Gisela Dulko loses US Open 2011 mixed doubles final
Melanie Oudin and Jack Sock beat Gisela Dulko and Eduardo Schwank 7-6(4), 4-6, (10-8) to win the US Open 2011 mixed doubles title.
“It’s pretty cool. We just kind of can’t believe that we actually won a Grand Slam,” said Oudin. “Especially because we didn’t even know if we were going to be able to play mixed doubles here because we didn’t know if we would get a wild card… we’re just really excited.”
Sock believes their approach of having fun carried them to victory. “I think that’s kind of why we have been doing well this week. It’s been like that all tournament for us, kind of just like playing loose, swinging, and having a good time.”

A slew of ATP and WTA stars attended the celebration, including her loyal friend and doubles partner Flavia Pennetta, David Nalbandian, Juan Mónaco and Mariano Zabaleta.
“It was like a magical dream day,” the 26-year-old Buenos Aires native declared. “It was a fantastic celebration and we had a really good time.”

Kimiko Date-Krumm beat Gisela Dulko in San Diego
Japan’s 40-year-old wonder woman Kimiko Date-Krumm beat newly-married Argentine Gisela Dulko 7-5, 6-0 in a post-honeymoon wake-up call to reach the second round of the San Diego Open.
Date-Krumm won the event in 1996 back in her first tennis life and just before she retired to eventually spend 11 years out of the game.
Her victory in just under 90 minutes with six breaks of the distracted Dulko on Tuesday got Date-Krumm off to a much more promising start at this edition after losing in qualifying rounds here a year ago.
She was joined in the second round by Japanese compatriot Ayumi Morita, a winner over Australian Jelena Dokic 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 and second-round opponent for Serbian fifth seed Ana Ivanovic.
