Gisela Dulko reaches Swedish Open Final

Gisela Dulko reaches Swedish Open Final

Gisela Dulko has swept into the final of the Swedish Open after a straight sets win against her doubles partner Flavia Pennetta.

Dulko broke Pennetta’s serve three times in the second set on the way to winning 6-3, 6-1.

Dulko will play Aravane Rezai in the final, Rezai defeated Lucie Safarova 6-3, 6-3.

Pennetta hadn’t dropped a set in the tournament before facing Dulko, but had to rescue a break point in the fourth game of the match.

Dulko then broke the top-seeded Italian’s serve with the score 2-all and again in the first game of the second set before going on to win.

Gisela Dulko vs Flavia Pennetta in Bastad Semifinals

Lucie Safarova was the first player to advance to the semis in Bastad after beating Zahlavova Strycova, 64 76.

“It was really a tough match,” Safarova said after beating her fellow Czech. “I think we were both nervous because we know each other so well.”

Gisela Dulko made it through whenr Ana Vrljic was forced to retire down 5-0 in the first set due to a left hamstring muscle injury.

Aravane Rezai followed with a 61 64 win over Arantxa Parra Santonja.
“I just fought like I did yesterday and two days ago,” Rezai said. “It wasn’t easy to stay focused after having won the first set that easily, and she kept fighting.”
