Dulko and Pennetta Upset in US Open Quarters

Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta were upset 63 63 by Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova at the quarterfinals of the US Open.

Dulko and Pennetta struggled to maintain the form they’ve been keeping all year, the form that has taken them to five titles together; King and Shvedova were on their game however, breaking their opponents five times (including four breaks of Pennetta’s serve) en route to the straight set win.

King and Shvedova are now 10-0 as a team at Grand Slams, going 6-0 in their first major together at Wimbledon and now 4-0 here in New York.

Elena Vesnina and Vera Zvonareva lost to Cara Black and Anastasia Rodionova, 46 75 64, having led 64 42 and even coming within two points of the win with Zvonareva serving for it at 64 54.
