French Open: Gisela Dulko upset Victoria Azarenka at Roland Garros
Victoria Azarenkawas upset 6-1, 6-2 by Gisela Dulko of Argentina on Sunday.
Dulko broke Azarenka five times and closed out the match in one hour and 12 minutes with a forehand winner.
Dulko, whose best result at the French Open was reaching the fourth round in 2006, secured her first victory after losing four straight opening matches. In the second round, the Argentine will play against South Africa’s Chanelle Scheepers, who beat Mathilde Johansson 6-2, 6-4.
Earlier this month, Azarenka had to retire in Madrid with a thigh injury.
