Gisela Dulko avanza a la segunda ronda en Bogota
Gisela Dulko eliminó el martes en dos sets a Mathilde Johansson y se instaló en la segunda ronda del torneo de la WTA en Bogotá.
Dulko se impuso 6-4, 6-4 tras una hora y 24 minutos de acción en la cancha central del Club El Rancho de Bogotá.
Rossana de los Ríos, Catalina Castaño y Mariana Duque también avanzaron.
De los Ríos venció 6-4, 6-1 a Masa Zec Peskiric, mientras que Castaño sorprendió 7-5, 6-2 a Polona Hercog, cuarta cabeza de serie. Duque se recuperó de un mal comienzo y eliminó 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 a lGreta Arn.
La gran sorpresa de la jornada fue la eliminación de la española Carla Suárez, la segunda cabeza de serie, al perder 6-1, 6-4 contra Kristina Antoniychuk, proveniente de la etapa clasificatoria.
En otro resultado, Patricia Mayr venció 6-1, 6-3 a Paula Zabala.

The Latin American swing kicks off this week with the XVIII Copa BBVA Colsanitas, and headlining the draw is the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s No.1 South American player, Gisela Dulko.
Dulko, currently ranked No.35 in the world, has enjoyed a solid start to 2010, most notably upsetting Ana Ivanovic en route to the third round of the Australian Open. She has also done nicely at this tournament in the past, her 7-3 record including a run to the finals here last year (where she was a runner-up to María José Martínez Sánchez). The No.1 seed this year, she will take on France’s Mathilde Johansson in her first round match.
The only other South American currently in the Top 100 is No.99 Rossana de los Ríos of Paraguay (who is also here but unseeded).
Spanish rising star Carla Suárez Navarro is the No.2 seed. Suárez Navarro, who in her green career has already been to two major quarterfinals – the 2008 French Open and the 2009 Australian Open – opens against a qualifier.

Australian Open 2010: Gisela Dulko avanzan en Australia
Gisela Dulko, que derrotó a la eslovaca Zuzana Kucová en tres mangas, por 6-0, 5-7 y 7-5, y sigue siendo la principal baza del tenis femenino argentino a nivel internacional.
En el cuadro femenino, se clasificaron la estadounidenses Serena Williams, cabeza de serie número uno, y su hermana, Venus Williams, sexta preclasificada, tras sendas victorias sobre la polaca Urzzula Radwanska y la checa Lucie Safarova, respectivamente.
Serena derrotó a Radwanska por 6-2 y 6-1, mientras que Venus casi logra un idéntico resultado ante Safarova, 6-2 y 6-2.
Por su parte, la española Carla Suárez (N.32) logró su pase a la segunda instancia de la competición tras imponerse a la japonesa Ayumi Morita.
Su compatriota Anabel Medina Garrigues y la paraguaya Rossana De Los Ríos fueron derrotadas en su debut en la competición.

US Open Series: Gisela Dulko at the Pilot Pen Main Draw ceremony
Gisela Dulko was in good spirits as she worked the crowd at the Pilot Pen Main Draw ceremony on Friday.
Dulko smiled as she chose children to take a chip out of a bowl with a number on it further revealing the 2009 Pilot Pen women’s field. She is coming off a win over Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon and will play Russian Elena Vesnina in the first round.
“The people can expect great tennis this week,” Dulko said.
The first round begins on Sunday and continues into Monday with matches starting no later than 10 a.m. There will also be a night session on Monday that begins at 7.
